Reporting to Medical Laboratory Scientist | Location: Lagos | Available Slot: 1 | Deadline: March 10th, 2024

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The viral load champion (VLC) provides all the services needed to enhance viral load coverage,
monitoring, and recognition of treatment failure. S/he will through the client tracking strategies ensure that all clients due for viral load blood draw appointment do not miss their visit. S/he would report Loss to Follow
Up and refer cases of unsuppressed viral load to the counselling team before repeat of viral load assay.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conduct baseline audit of all ART client folders to ensure appropriate viral load documentation and appointment scheduling.
  2. Work with the laboratory unit and M&E team to prepare the line list of clients due for routine and repeat viral load assay blood draw.
  3. Conduct pre-emptive phone call to all clients due for viral load blood draw in two weeks before
    their scheduled appointment.
  4. Ensure that all clients due for viral load blood draw receive the service.
  5. Enroll all clients who have had viral load test on ProHIMS Viral Load Tracker and enter the data
    accordingly.
  6. Enroll all clients that are virally unsuppressed in the ProHIMS’ Unsuppressed Viral Load Tracker and enter the data accordingly.
  7. Follow SOP steps for venous blood sample collection for viral load testing.
  8. Follow SOP steps for processing VL samples appropriately to ensure integrity.
  9. Follow up and document all clients that missed their viral load appointment.
  10. Identify and document Loss To Follow Up clients.
  11. Identify, document, and refer clients with high viral load results for EAC.
  12. Report and ensure that all clients failing first-line ART are reviewed by EAC and clinic team.
  13. Refer and follow up on clients in need of modified service delivery for viral load blood collection to the Medical Laboratory Scientist

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Science Laboratory Technician
  • Good understanding of Database platform.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the country and across the region on a regular basis
  • High degree of independence, creativity, and commitment.
  • Strong analytic and communication skills, ability to write clearly and succinctly under time pressure and to make well organized verbal presentations.
  • Advantage of working experience in community-based interventions, non-profit management, or related field.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft office application including MS Word, Excel, and
    PowerPoint.
