The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) was established through an Act of the Parliament in 1960 to complement public authorities in humanitarian interventions with the mandate to prevent and alleviate human suffering at times of peace or conflict, and to support individuals and communities to respond effectively to emergencies, without any form of discrimination as to class, gender, race, political opinions or religion.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Security Officer
Location: Abuja

Job Summary
- The Security Officer under the guidance of Coordinator Security will be support protection and security of NRCS property, staff and volunteers.
Responsibilities
The Security Officer has the following responsibilities:
Strategic:
- Support security risk management assessments across all areas of operations for the Nigerian Red Cross
- Identify best practices and determine the appropriateness of increased security controls via cost/benefit and risk analysis
- Ensure readiness of incident responses for Red Cross operations
- Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences and surveillance activities
- Ensure the security, safety and well-being of all personnel.
- Adhere to all security operating standards
- Protect the NRCS assets from theft, assault, fire and other safety hazards
- Support procedures for various initiatives, including fire prevention, property patrol, traffic control and accident investigations
Operational:
- Support the implementation of security measures for special and high-risk program activities of the NRCS
- Support Safer Access program of the Red Cross in Nigeria
- Identify and report on potential areas of security vulnerability and risk
- Maintain relationships with local, state and federal law enforcement and other related government agencies
- Respond and mitigate security concerns during field operations
- Examine security equipment and facilities to ensure they are easily accessible and safe
- Document incident reports to in a timely manner and in a clear and concise format
- Maintain archive of security reports for records purposes, and for future reviewing
Requirements
- First degree in Social Sciences or related discipline from a reputable institution
- Relevant Security Management Certifications
- Minimum of 4 years relevant experience reporting directly to senior management
- Work experience in a non-profit organization will be an added advantage
