1. Campaign Lead, Surge Africa

 

 

Job Summary

Deadline: 12th May, 2024

Position Start Time: Immediately

Term: 1-year contract (subject to renewal)       

Location: Fully Remote –   Nigeria

 

 

 

Role Overview:

As the Campaign Lead, you will be responsible for proposing, planning and executing Surge Africa’s campaigns and related engagements. You will engage directly with multiple stakeholders both locally and internationally, and will support, advocate for, and build knowledge around strategic campaigning both for the benefit of Surge Africa, and as it relates to partner organizations.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive campaign strategies aligned to organizational goals and designated outcomes.

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of multi-channel campaigns across various platforms, including digital, social media, events, and grassroots initiatives.

  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to develop impactful messaging, creative content, and advocacy materials that resonate with our campaign demands.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and fellow campaigners to share knowledge and strategies that seeks to promote the reach and impact of our campaigns.

  • Monitor campaign performance, track key metrics, and provide regular reports and analysis to inform decision-making and optimize current and future campaigns.

  • Stay informed about climate-related issues, trends, and developments to ensure our campaigns remain relevant and effective.

Qualifications:
  • Proven 3 years of experience in campaign management, preferably in the nonprofit sector or environmental advocacy.

  • Strong strategic thinking, creative problem-solving skills, and a passion for driving social change.

  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of climate change issues and environmental sustainability initiatives is preferred.

  • Ability to anticipate climate trends using both research and own insight and brings the project into the fore of that trajectory.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

 

 

2. Network Coordinator, Youth Climate Collective

 

Job Summary

Position Title: Network Coordinator, Youth Climate Collective

Deadline: 28th April, 2024

Position Start Time: Immediately

Term: 1-year contract (subject to renewal)       

Location: Fully Remote –   Nigeria

Youth Climate Collective:

To build up on the success of the Youth Manifesto on Climate Change – which is a collective call to action from Nigerian youth to the government, outlining crucial areas they believe need urgent political intervention; Surge Africa developed the Youth Climate Collective which is an initiative that seeks to streamline the demands of the Youth Manifesto into actionable points to ensure that the call to action outlined in the Youth Manifesto on Climate Change are prioritized and implemented.

Role Overview

As the Network Coordinator, you will be responsible for facilitating communication and collaboration among our diverse network of youth climate activists and organizations. You will play a key role in organizing events, coordinating campaigns, and supporting the visibility and access of the Youth Climate Collective.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate programs, events, activities/engagements, and manage learning tools as they relate to the Collective.

  • Mobilise, manage, and coordinate partners and network members across the Youth Climate Collective Network.

  • Manage communication channels, websites, including email lists, social media groups, and online forums. Organize virtual and in-person events, workshops, and conferences as it relates to the Collective.

  • Support the development and implementation of advocacy campaigns and initiatives within the Collective.

  • Provide resources and support to help members engage in climate action efforts.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of working experience in network coordination especially in the Climate Space.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Familiarity with strategic communications and movement building.

  • Creativity and the ability to think strategically about communications.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Proficient in Google Workspace and any other relevant tools.

  • Fast and adaptable learner.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Program Associate, SurgeX Media

Position Title: Program Associate, SurgeX Media

Deadline: 28th April, 2024

Position Start Time: Immediately

Term: 1-year contract (subject to renewal)       

Location: Fully Remote –   Nigeria

Surge X Media:

Through Surge X Media, Surge Africa bridges the gaps in movement building and creative capacity between storytellers, activists, and environmental defenders within the global southern movement building  space by developing a Global Majority network that connects struggles of South-South frontliners as an avenue to convene, connect and create powerful strategies and change narratives around our shared goals of freedom, justice and equality to dismantle oppressive neocolonial systems that undermine our right to fight corporate and political impunity.

Role Overview

As the Program Associate for Surge X Media, you will be responsible for initiating and managing programs under SurgeX Media. The role will entail program development and management, network and movement building.

Responsibilities

  • Support strategy implementation for the SurgeX Media program, and ensure operational strategy aligns with organizational goals.

  • Support program development, develop budget for programs and events, and prepare status and project reports.

  • Scale visibility of the program, establish new regional partnerships and manage general partner and stakeholder engagement.

  • Coordinate the development of toolkits, training materials, and other documents as needed.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience with building effective media/strategic communications programs.

  • A strong working knowledge of project management, design and brand development, and marketing.

  • Ability to transform rough ideas and general concepts into actions, projects, and completed products or messages.

  • Ability to anticipate climate trends using both research and own insight and brings the project into the forefront of that trajectory.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
