We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Legal Officer
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Summary
- The Legal Officer shall be responsible for providing advice on legal matters, commercial contracts, and agreements. Also responsible for assisting the team in administrative tasks, document management and research.
Accountabilities
- Draft a wide variety of legal agreements.
- Provide advice on corporate legal issues and business matters.
- Provide internal advisory services to the business units and departments within the Company.
- Provide commercial legal support to all departmental projects and job functions.
- Ensure the development of service level agreements for service support and delivery.
- Assist in the development of guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Analyse and review legal agreements, legislation, and documents for the Company.
- Ensure (internal & external) compliance with laid down guidelines, policies, and procedures; investigate issues of non-compliance as may be required.
- Liaise with external solicitors, regulatory bodies, governments, landlords of buildings occupied by the Company in various states, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor concise summaries of court proceedings across different courts, as allocated to external legal counsel.
- Deal with all legal matters, including criminal, civil, police liaison, and alternative dispute resolution.
- Maintain and update all contracts database/filing systems.
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
- Member of the Nigerian Bar Association.
- 1 year post NYSC experience.
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Skills:
- Good research skills.
- Excellent written &verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of corporate law; commitment and enthusiasm in the delivery of the organization’s objectives.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
- Good understanding of general and specific Company and commercial law.
- Excellent team working ability to ensure smooth operation in the Legal Unit and the Company as a whole.
Salary
N200,000 – N220,000 per month.
