About Meadow Hall

The School comprises of a Crèche, an Infant School, a Junior School and a College. It runs an integrated scheme made up of British and Nigerian curricula and disseminates knowledge to over a thousand children. Meadow Hall is an inclusive school where children with different learning challenges and special needs such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism, Down’s syndrome etc are catered for through its Special Education Needs (SEN) department. Gifted and talented children are also provided with enrichment and extension programmes to further develop their gift. The School also has a well-equipped Sports Centre housing basketball and volleyball courts, a FIFA standard turf, a half-size Olympic swimming pool and much more. In September 2014, Meadow Hall extended their expertise to the Ikoyi environs with the launch of a second site. Meadow Hall Ikoyi has both Infant and Junior Sections. After 13 years of existence Meadow Hall can boast of 10sets of graduates and the vision is not only being realised but has now evolved to a Group of companies. Apart from Meadow Hall Education, the group has other subsidiary companies which include: Meadow Hall Consult, Spring Meadow Edutainment, Meadow Hall Branchise and Meadow Hall Foundation. In 2008, Meadow Hall Consult was set-up with a vision of training and raising the standard of education service providers across the nation. Indeed by training teachers across the nation, we are better positioned to positively influence the educational system. We are also guaranteed to reach out to more children with every teacher trained in our well established Consult. Then in May 2009, Meadow Hall Foundation was incorporated as the non-profit arm of the Meadow Hall Group to support communities, public schools, pupils and teachers through various charitable initiatives and programmes. The vision of the Foundation is to touch the heart of the Nigerian child. In 2014, we started Spring Meadow Edutainment and Meadow Hall Branchise. Spring Meadow Edutainment is focused on helping the ‘Nigerian child’ maximise their potential and become the very best in arts, sports, music etc. It provides the opportunity for the children to be exposed to the rigorous practice and drills required to hone their skills. Meadow Hall Branchise evolved from our passion to establish and sustain excellent educational practices. We believe, with our focus on best practices in the education industry and our experience, we can offer much more to our immediate market and the world at large. Job Summary:

  • The Female House Parent is responsible for the welfare, supervision, and support of female boarders, ensuring a safe, secure, and nurturing environment that promotes personal, social, and academic development in line with the school’s values and policies.
  • Additionally, the role includes administrative duties during school hours.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Welfare and Pastoral Care:

  • Provide a supportive and caring environment for all female boarders.
  • Act as the first point of contact for students with personal or academic concerns.
  • Monitor the physical and emotional well-being of boarders and report any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Encourage positive behavior and handle disciplinary issues in accordance with school policies.

Supervision and Safety:

  • Ensure the safety and security of boarders at all times, including during night and weekend duties.
  • Conduct regular checks and patrols of the boarding house.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, incidents, and health issues.

Daily Routine Management:

  • Oversee the daily routines of boarders, including wake-up calls, meal times, study periods, and bedtime routines.
  • Ensure boarders adhere to the school’s timetable and attend all required activities.
  • Organize and supervise recreational and social activities within the boarding house.

Communication and Liaison:

  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school staff regarding students’ welfare and progress.
  • Attend regular meetings with boarding staff and contribute to the development of boarding policies and practices.
  • Provide reports on student progress and any issues that arise within the boarding house.

Housekeeping and Maintenance:

  • Ensure the boarding house is clean, tidy, and well-maintained.
  • Report any maintenance issues promptly to the facilities team.
  • Manage the distribution and care of boarding house equipment and supplies.

Administrative Duties (During School Hours):

  • Help organize and manage school events and activities related to the students.

Personal Development and Training:

  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training programs.
  • Stay informed about best practices in boarding house management and student welfare.

Person Specification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in a pastoral or supervisory role, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and administrative software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Growth mindset and willingness to learn.
  • Emotional intelligence and ability to manage interpersonal relationships.
