About Emmanuel Alayande University of Education

Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo is an offshoot of the St. Andrew’s College, Oyo formerly a Grade II Teachers’ College established by the Church Missionary Society (C.M.S.)  in 1896 and it ranked as the oldest Teachers’ Training College in Nigeria.

The major purpose of the establishment of the University is to serve essentially as an academic centre for the production of highly qualified teachers. The transformation from a Teachers’ Grade II awarding Institution to a Nigeria Certificate in Education and then Degree awarding institution is an undeniable fact that the institution has been responding to the needs of society and time. As at today, this institution has produced thousands of very skillful teachers and professionals in other fields of endeavour making useful contributions to nation-building.

Job Title: Director of Procurement

Location: Oyo

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage the procurement of goods, services, and works for the university.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and best practices in procurement
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with transparency.
  • Oversee the tendering process and ensure
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance.
  • Prepare and manage the procurement budget.
  • Lead and supervise the Procurement Department staff.
  • Responsible to the Vice-Chancellor in an advisory capacity.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing and Supply, Business Administration, or related field.
  • A professional certification such as CIPS, CISCM or equivalent is preferred.
  • A good Master’s Degree in Purchasing and Supply/Business Administration/Financial Studies/Accounting/Economics
  • Attained the rank of Deputy Director in the
  • University System or tertiary institution with at least 15 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of procurement processes, laws, and regulations.
  • Strong negotiation, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Possess a NYSC Discharge / Exemption / Exclusion Certificate.
  • In-depth knowledge and communication skills with competency in ICT are required.
  •  Minimum of 5 years as Deputy Director or above.

Requirements of Office:

  • Applicant must be proactive with high integrity, moral integrity and good interpersonal relations and be able to provide competent professional leadership in the Directorates to command the respect and loyalty of staff.
  • He/She must appreciate the complexity of the University system and enjoy good mental/physical health.
  • Candidate should not be 60 years old at the time of assumption of office.

 

Salary and Conditions of Service

  • The salary and conditions of service are as applicable under the University Law and as determined from time to time by the University’s Governing Council.
