Celebrate Little Wins

In this fast-paced world where everyone puts up a picture of success on social media, it is so easy to slip into the mode of constantly comparing ourselves with our contemporaries. We define success by how well we are doing in comparison with our contemporaries, rather than mapping our own paths and definitions of success. We tend to focus on the things that are not going well in our lives, rather than reflecting on our own accomplishments, and celebrating the little wins we achieve every day.

Let me ask. When last did you really take time to reflect on your own accomplishments? When last did you take time out to focus on yourself, and physically reward yourself for something you have done well?

Well if you have not done so in a while, here are a few tips on how you can help release some dopamine into your system, and set some creative juices flowing…

  • Review and acknowledge yourself and your accomplishments every day, no matter how little.
  • Focus on all the things that are going well in your life, and thank God for the things that are not, because that status is temporary.
  • Reward yourself for each stepping stone you make on your way to achieving your ultimate goals
  • Tell yourself how great you are – e.g. “I am smart” “I am intelligent” etc
  • Commit to celebrating who you are, and loving yourself whether or not you have a reason to.
