Job Summary

  • Consequently, the Governing Council of the University has decided to commence, in earnest, the due process for the appointment of a Bursar in accordance with the provisions of the Universities of Technology Act, as cited in Chapter F23 of the Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, and the University Act.

 

Responsibilities

  • The Bursar shall be the Chief Finance Officer of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day financial administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.

 

Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Possess a good first degree, not below second class lower division, in Accounting or other finance-related disciplines from any recognized institution. Possession of a higher degree will be an added advantage.
  • Possess professionally recognized Accountancy qualifications: ICAN, ACMA, ACA, ACCA, ANAN.
  • Have at least 18 years of cognate post-qualification experience. In addition, the candidate must be holding the position of Deputy Bursar in a university, with at least five years in the post.
  • Be computer literate and must be conversant with accounting and auditing software.
  • Be free from financial embarrassment and enjoy good physical and mental health.
  • Be below the age of 60 years at the point of assumption of duty.

The Person:

  • The candidate for the post shall be visionary, a person of high integrity and moral character with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • She/he must be able to instill confidence in others and command the loyalty and respect of people.
  • She/he must fully understand the complexity of the University system and must be able to effectively utilize its human resources to attain a world-class financial system.
  • She/he must enjoy good physical and mental health and must be ICT literate.
  • In addition, she/he must be able to provide good professional leadership and on-the-job proficiency training to the Bursary staff.

 

Condition of Service

  • The successful candidate shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years in line with the Universities Miscellaneous Act 2012 and on such terms and conditions applicable to Federal Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined by the appropriate University Laws and the Governing Council.

Referees

  • Nominate three (3) referees who must forward references on them directly to the Registrar and Secretary to Council.
  • Such references should attest to the candidate’s claims of high administrative capability as well as his/her moral standing.
  • These references must be received and signed for in the Office of the Registrar on or before 1600 hours on Tuesday, 8th October 2024.
