Description

The Assistant General Manager of Operations (AGO) is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and coordinating AGO operational activities. Reporting directly to the Head, of AGO Operations, The AGM will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of various operational aspects, including tank farm operations, product dispensing, transportation logistics, compliance with regulatory bodies, and maintenance of quality and safety standards.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Operational Oversight:

  • Oversee and coordinate all operational activities, including tank farm operations, product receiving and loading, and transportation logistics.
  • Review, design, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for dispensing products and ensure compliance with established protocols when required.
  • Establish rapport and liaise with relevant statutory agencies, unions, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with guidelines and regulations.
  • Respond to terminal, pipeline, rail, or marine emergencies, ensuring swift and effective resolution.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Advise, periodically review, and implement security, health, and safety SOPs for the tank farm and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance and mitigate risks associated with operations.
  • Implement monitoring mechanisms for equipment and infrastructure to prevent health and safety hazards.

Logistics and Distribution Management:

  • Supervise the distribution network, including transportation of products, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery to customers.
  • Monitor and suggest strategies to ensure the security of products during transit and implement inventory control measures to optimize stock levels and minimize holding costs.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Review and develop training plans for the operational team according to organizational goals in consultation with the Head of AGO/Fuels Management.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to team members, ensuring adherence to company policies and standards.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and safety awareness within the operational team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree/ HND in Accounting, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree will be an advantage.
  • Professional certification is an advantage – For example, ICAN, CITLS etc.
  • Proven experience in operations management within the petroleum industry, with a focus on terminal operations, logistics, and compliance.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., NUPENG, PENGASAN, NMDPRA).
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, solve complex problems, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in SAP systems is preferred.
  • Certification in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management is an advantage.
