Our client, a US-based industry leader, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Officer to join their dynamic team in Lagos Mainland. Established 7 years ago, they have carved a niche as an innovative player in the shipping & logistics space. Now, with a dedicated team of 8 and ambitious expansion plans, they’re searching for a meticulous individual to bolster their financial operations.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Maintaining accurate and timely financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
• Processing accounts payable and receivable, managing cash flow effectively.
• Preparing financial reports and statements, providing key insights to management.
• Reconciling bank statements and handling other accounting tasks with precision.
• Supporting the team with financial analysis and problem-solving.
• Oversee other company’s financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, fixed assets management, statutory reporting and. Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and internal policies.
• Coordinate and participate in internal and external audits, ensuring all financial documentation is complete and accurate.
• File tax and other statutory remittances.
• Liaise with vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely payments for goods and services rendered.
• Manage the company’s inventory.
• Stay updated on relevant financial laws and regulations.
• Assist in long-term financial planning and strategic decision-making to support the company’s growth and development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications are added advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in accounting and financial management preferably in a shipping & logistics environment.
• Demonstrated ethical conduct and the ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and MS Office esp. MS Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
Salary : 100k – 150k + HMO + Pension
