Job Description of an Accountant
We are looking for a trustworthy and highly competent Accountant – Accounts & Treasury to join our growing Finance Team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the position holder will be part of the Team to drive all Accounting and Book-Keeping functions of the Company.
You will work with large amounts of numerical data, handle multiple tasks with deadlines, and provide transparent and complete reports to management. You should have a firm grasp of accounting and financial practices and regulations and possess strong computer and verbal and written communication skills.

Job Responsibilities of an Accountant
- Review all payment requests and determine relevant applicable taxes.
- Confirm that payment requests are in line with the approved budgets.
- Process all financial transactions after verifying that relevant supporting documents are attached.
- Initiate payments on the applicable Internet banking platforms.
- Contribute to the execution of day-to-day Finance deliverables.
- Fulfil day-to-day finance and administrative duties of the Department.
- Monitor settlement accounts and request for funds as needed.
- Follow up with all transfers of funds to settlement accounts with relevant partners and ensure accounts are credited.
- Maintain Investment Schedule.
- Properly file Investment Certificates.
- Prepare a schedule of daily receipts and payments with links to relevant supporting documents.
- Correctly reference financial transactions.
- Post all transactions into the Accounting Software.
- Prepare and post all monthly Journals including Withholding Tax.
- Handle all filing and remittance of statutory payments.
- Update Fixed Assets Register.
- Trace and correct observed discrepancies in postings in the General Ledger.
- Properly file all receipts or documents in respect of Regulatory or Statutory compliance.
- Monitor usage of chequebooks and request for chequebooks before they are completely exhausted.
Job Requirements of an Accountant
- 3-5 years experience working in Finance
- A Bachelor’s Degree from a reputable educational institution (in Accounting, Finance or Business discipline is preferred)
- Experience in FinTech
- Knowledge and working experience of Excel
- Knowledge and working experience of Quickbooks or any relevant Accounting Software.
- Able to work effectively and productively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical skills to monitor, measure and report
- Excellent attention to detail and highly organised
- Confident with a strong sense of judgement
- Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines independently and as part of a Team
- High performance and growth mindset at the forefront of everything you do.
Key Requirements of an Accountant
- Must be based in Yaba or surrounding areas
- Immediate start
Salary
₦220,000k – ₦250,000k + Benefits
